The 2024 IPC International Fellows have spent the past year immersed in global dermatology through their work with IPC. From engaging in virtual meetings to connecting with leading psoriasis experts and mentors, their experiences have been diverse and educational. In this blog post, hear directly from all eight 2024 Fellows as they share their reflections and experiences through recordings from the 2024 IPC Think Tank Meeting in London. Join us in celebrating these dedicated dermatologists as they reflect on a transformative year of learning, growth, and global collaboration.
Dr. María Julia Cura, a clinical researcher and co-leader of the psoriasis team at Hospital Italiano in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was mentored by IPC Councilor Diamant Thaçi at the University of Lübeck in Germany. She also attended and participated in the 2024 European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Amsterdam, where her digital poster, A Digital Tool Connecting Patients with the HealthCare System Through Psoriasis Virtual Community, was shared and displayed.

Dr. Ashar Vijay Dhana is a consultant dermatologist in the Division of Dermatology at Groote Schuur Academic Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. He was mentored by IPC Councilor Andrew Pink at the St. John’s Institute of Dermatology in London, United Kingdom. He attended the 2024 American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. Dr. Dhana’s future goals include establishing a dedicated psoriasis care program at his institution and advancing clinical research in prediction models and individual participant data meta-analysis.

Dr. Bryan Ko Guevara is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist at the Southern Philippines Medical Center and Southeast Dermatology. During his onsite visit to Manchester, United Kingdom, he was mentored by IPC Founder Christopher Griffiths and IPC Councilor Darren Ashcroft, collaborating closely with the Global Psoriasis Atlas (GPA) team. Dr. Guevara attended the 2024 American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, earlier this year. He has also been honored with the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award (YDIA) for 2025.
Dr. Jan Hugo leads the outpatient unit at the Department of Dermatovenerology at the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady in Prague, Czech Republic. In June, he attended the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA) Conference in Stockholm, Sweden. He traveled to Ghent, Belgium, for his onsite visit with mentor IPC Councilor Jo Lambert at Ghent University Hospital in Ghent in October. Dr. Hugo is committed to fostering international collaboration within the IPC community and is currently working on publishing a multicentric analysis of biologics in elderly patients.
Dr. Shekhar Neema is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Base Hospital, affiliated with King George Medical University in Lucknow, India. In May 2024, as part of his mentorship with IPC Councilor Elise Kleyn, he participated in his onsite visit to the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, where he gained experience in their psoriasis clinic and collaborated with the Global Psoriasis Atlas (GPA) team. Dr. Neema attended the Psoriasis: From Gene to Clinic 10th International Congress this December and is committed to continuing his work in psoriasis and supporting patient groups.
Dr. Josep Riera Monroig is a consultant dermatologist at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona in Spain and a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona. He traveled to the University of California, San Francisco, for mentorship with IPC Councilor Wilson Liao, where he gained experience in the psoriasis clinic and the research lab and attended the 2024 AAD Meeting in March. Dr. Riera Monroig aims to build and strengthen partnerships across institutions while advancing expertise in advanced methodologies and technologies.
Dr. Huidi Shucheng is an attending dermatologist in the Department of Dermatology and Venereology at West China Hospital, Sichuan University. He received mentorship from IPC Board Member Joel Gelfand at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this time, he attended the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Shucheng’s future goals include advancing psoriasis care by exploring risk factors, biomarkers, and novel therapeutics to improve treatment outcomes and contributing to personalized, evidence-based treatment strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. Alison Treichel is a PGY-4 dermatology resident at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center under the mentorship of IPC Councilor Dr. Kevin Cooper. Her IPC Fellowship Mentor was IPC Councilor and Fellowship Program Alumni Álvaro González-Cantero, with whom she studied at Hospital Ramón y Cajal in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Treichel also attended the 53rd Annual European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR) Meeting in Lisbon in September and presented research on circulating monocytes in psoriasis patients treated with apremilast at the Psoriasis: From Gene to Clinic 10th International Congress. She hopes to continue her work in academic practice and clinical/translational research.
