Dr. Josep Riera-Monroig is a consultant dermatologist leading the Psoriasis Unit at the Department of Dermatology, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Spain. He is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona. His work in psoriasis focuses on novel therapeutic approaches and identifying exposome-related triggers, such as microbiome alterations and the characteristics of emotional stressors linked to disease flares. His clinical expertise also includes rare genetic disorders, such as generalized pustular psoriasis and disorders of epidermal differentiation. Dr. Riera-Monroig has served as principal investigator in multiple clinical trials and research studies. He has participated in educational programs such as the International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology (GLODERM) and serves as Secretary of the Catalan Society of Dermatology and Venereology. He is also an active member of the Spanish Psoriasis Group of the Academia Española de Dermatología y Venereología (AEDV). For his IPC Fellowship, Dr. Riera-Monroig undertook research training with IPC Councilor Dr. Wilson Liao at the University of California, San Francisco.
