Doctor Elise Kleyn is a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Dermatologist. She pursued her postgraduate training on the North West Regional Dermatology Training Scheme. She was awarded her PhD from The University of Manchester and her MMedSci degree from The University of Liverpool. Dr. Kleyn is the Director of the Brain-Skin Unit, Centre for Dermatology Research and one of five Consultant dermatologists who lead the Greater Manchester Psoriasis Service. Dr. Kleyn’s research has been focused on the ‘brain-skin’ axis in health and disease, forming the basis of her PhD thesis, and for which she has received a number of national awards. In addition, she has a particular interest in psoriasis, brain imaging as well as the safety of biological therapies and their use in psoriasis. She has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings and is a Councilor with the International Psoriasis Council as well as a member of the BADBIR Data Analysis Working Group. She is actively involved in medical education both in the clinical setting and as a PhD supervisor and runs the successful Manchester Psoriasis Preceptorship program. She is the Equality and Diversity Lead, Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences and an Athena Swan champion. She is married to a general practitioner and has two daughters.
