Dr. Jan Hugo works at the Department of Dermatovenerology of the University Hospital Královské Vinohrady as the head of the outpatient unit. In addition to graduating in medicine at Charles University, he also received a Ph.D.
Dr. Hugo became interested in psoriasis during his medical studies due to the complexity of the disease. He is currently involved in a multicenter interdisciplinary study exploring the relationship between atherosclerosis and biological therapies within psoriasis. His fascination lies in the numerous comorbidities associated with psoriasis. Dr. Hugo emphasizes the significance of screening for comorbidities as a part of his educational initiatives. Beyond dermatologists, he strives to raise awareness among medical students and general practitioners.
Besides comorbidities, Dr. Hugo is involved in research regarding the safety of therapies, which includes ongoing studies exploring the possible effects on the gut microbiome and T-lymphocyte subpopulations during biological therapy. He is also a sub-investigator in clinical trials, examining the well-being and efficacy of genital psoriasis.
Dr. Hugo will study with IPC Councilor Jo Lambert at Ghent University Hospital in Ghent, Belgium.
