IPC Rapid Communications

TIMELY INSIGHTS FROM GLOBAL PSORIASIS EXPERTS

The IPC Rapid Communications initiative aims to deliver concise, expert perspectives on emerging developments in psoriasis research, clinical practice, and health policy. Each publication highlights urgent or important issues where swift dissemination of expert insights can inform and improve patient care worldwide.

Why Rapid Communications

New discoveries, therapies, and data in psoriasis care evolve quickly—and clinicians need access to expert interpretation as soon as possible.

Rapid Communications allow IPC experts to respond to new evidence or pressing issues in real time, bridging the gap between guideline updates and helping practitioners stay current with global best practices.

What They Are

Each Rapid Communication is a short, focused publication, typically under 500 words with up to five references, developed by IPC experts. Up to four are released annually and may take the form of expert commentaries, white papers, or position statements.

Selected manuscripts are fast-tracked for publication in peer-reviewed journals or shared on the IPC website to ensure timely global access.

How Ideas and Authors Are Selected

Ideas are solicited annually from IPC members, Corporate Partners, and patient partner organizations. Submissions are evaluated by the IPC Editorial Committee based on:

  • Clinical relevance and global impact
  • Frequency of similar ideas
  • Novelty and urgency
  • Alignment with IPC’s strategic priorities

Authors are chosen from among those who proposed the idea with attention to expertise and geographic diversity. While IPC aims to include idea contributors whenever possible, participation as an author is not guaranteed. Each manuscript undergoes a structured review and approval by the IPC Board of Directors before publication.

New Take Tens on Psoriatic Arthritis

IPC Councilor Anna Lopez Ferrer, MD, PhD, reviews PURE-4, a four-item tool that helps dermatologists screen psoriasis patients for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) risk. She traces its evolution across three studies (2018–2026) into a validated predictor of early PsA.

IPC Councilor André Lucas Ribeiro, MD, reframes PsA as a slow transition from psoriasis, not a sudden event, opening the door to disease interception. He outlines the steps needed to get there, from harmonizing definitions to reducing inflammatory burden.
