Meet IPC’s Newest Councilors: Psoriasis Experts from Europe, Asia, and Africa

Strengthening IPC across Europe, Asia, and Africa

The International Psoriasis Council (IPC) welcomes four new Councilors, confirmed by the IPC Board of Directors during the 2026 European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Vienna, Austria. Tom Hillary, MD, PhD, of Belgium; Jiajing Lu, MD, PhD, of China; Nelson Mosha, MD, MMed, of Tanzania; and Professor Luis F. Santamaría-Babí, PhD, of Spain bring expertise that spans psoriasis registries and cohorts, severe and treatment-refractory disease, care in sub-Saharan Africa, and the immunology of skin-homing T cells.

Tom Hillary, MD, PhD

UZ Leuven

Leuven, Belgium

IPC Councilor

Bio
Dr. Hillary is a staff dermatologist in the Department of Dermatology at University Hospitals Leuven (UZ Leuven), where his work centers on psoriasis, other inflammatory skin diseases, and primary cutaneous lymphoma. He studies comorbidities associated with inflammatory immune-mediated diseases (IMIDs). He serves as the principal investigator of DALIH, a Leuven database of inflammatory skin diseases, and PICASSO, a prospective psoriasis follow-up cohort. He is a Junior Editor at the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (JEADV), a Board Member of the Royal Belgian Society for Dermatology and Venereology, and an expert reviewer for the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

Jiajing Lu, MD, PhD

She is a Young Principal Investigator at the Institute of Psoriasis, Tongji University School of Medicine, has published 41 Science Citation Index (SCI)-indexed papers as first or corresponding author, and has contributed to five psoriasis guidelines and expert consensus statements. She is a member of the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA).

Nelson Elibariki Mosha, MD, MMed

Regional Dermatology Training Centre (RDTC), KCMC Hospital and KCMC University

Moshi, Tanzania

IPC Councilor

Bio
Dr. Mosha is a dermatologist, lecturer, and researcher at the Regional Dermatology Training Centre (RDTC) in Moshi, Tanzania. His research covers dermatological epidemiology, clinical outcomes, quality of life, and healthcare disparities in sub-Saharan Africa. He is working with IPC to develop the Tanzania Psoriasis Registry and is a member of IPC’s Africa Working Group and Diverse Skin Tones Working Group. He also advocates for adding essential skin medicines, particularly emollients, to the World Health Organization (WHO) Model List of Essential Medicines to make care for chronic inflammatory skin diseases more affordable.

Luis Santamaria-Babí, PhD

University of Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

Bio
Professor Santamaría-Babí is a Full Professor of Clinical and Translational Immunology at the University of Barcelona and Director of the Translational Immunology Research Group at the Barcelona Science Park. His research examines the immune mechanisms underlying psoriasis and other inflammatory skin diseases, with a focus on skin-homing T cells and cutaneous lymphocyte antigen (CLA), as well as the roles of Streptococcus pyogenes and the interleukin-23/interleukin-17 (IL-23/IL-17) axis. He is a Councilor of the International Eczema Council (IEC), an Academician of the Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de Catalunya, and a past Board Member of the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR).

Building on IPC's Global Network

Together, Dr. Hillary, Dr. Lu, Dr. Mosha, and Professor Santamaría-Babí connect IPC with psoriasis registries in Belgium and Tanzania, specialist care for complex disease in China, and translational immunology in Spain. Dr. Mosha’s work on access to essential medicines also aligns with IPC’s own priority of improving medication access and affordability for people with psoriasis. We look forward to the perspective each of them brings to IPC’s education, research, and patient care work.
