In a historic move, Member States at the 78th World Health Assembly have adopted a resolution recognizing skin diseases as a global public health priority. The resolution underscores the significant health burden of skin conditions worldwide, including their role in stigma, delayed diagnoses, and limited access to care.
Importantly, the resolution calls for country-level action to strengthen surveillance, improve access to medicines, integrate skin health into primary care systems, and invest in research. WHO is tasked with leading these global efforts and scaling up support for skin disease management across all regions.
