Dr. Mona El-Kalioby is an Associate Professor and Consultant at the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt. Her current job combines clinical practice with research and teaching/training doctors. She is one of the founding members of the Kasr Al-Ainy Psoriasis Unit, which has served more than 5,000 registered psoriasis patients since 2015. She works with the unit team to provide psoriasis patients with tailored, integrated care. She contributes to the unit’s psoriasis management protocol and patient registry research. She has also presented as a speaker and trainer at national/international conferences and national workshops about psoriasis. Her work focuses on psoriasis epidemiology, comorbidities, pustular psoriasis, and pediatric psoriasis. Dr. El-Kalioby studied with IPC Board Member Amy Paller at her clinic in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She became an IPC Councilor in April 2025.

New Take Tens on Psoriatic Arthritis

IPC Councilor Anna Lopez Ferrer, MD, PhD, reviews PURE-4, a four-item tool that helps dermatologists screen psoriasis patients for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) risk. She traces its evolution across three studies (2018–2026) into a validated predictor of early PsA.

IPC Councilor André Lucas Ribeiro, MD, reframes PsA as a slow transition from psoriasis, not a sudden event, opening the door to disease interception. He outlines the steps needed to get there, from harmonizing definitions to reducing inflammatory burden.
