Dr. Cristina Bertoli is a dedicated medical professional specializing in dermatology and venereology, focusing on inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis. During her residency at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Cristina has honed a wide range of clinical and research skills under the mentorship of Dr. Di Lernia at the Santa Maria Nuova Hospital in Reggio Emilia. Her daily clinical practice and research efforts have deepened her interest in inflammatory diseases, combining her passion for the complexity of psoriasis with her enthusiasm for pediatric dermatology. Her final specialization thesis investigates pediatric psoriasis and the comparative efficacy of biological therapies, including originator and biosimilar anti-TNF-alpha treatments, reflecting her dedication to advancing therapeutic options for these challenging conditions. Graduating *cum laude* with a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2019, Cristina’s contributions to dermatological research include multiple publications in respected medical journals, covering psoriasis clinical cases as well as innovative treatments for conditions like vitiligo and the use of dermal templates in surgery. She has presented her findings at both international conferences, such as the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), and national conferences, including the Sidemast Italian Congress of Dermatology and Venereology, with a particular focus on psoriasis management and dermatology education strategies. Her multilingual abilities—fluent in Italian and proficient in English and Spanish—enhance her ability to engage with diverse medical communities and contribute to the global advancement of dermatological care.

Dr. Bertoli studied with IPC Councilor Elke de Jong at Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, Netherlands.

New Take Tens on Psoriatic Arthritis

IPC Councilor Anna Lopez Ferrer, MD, PhD, reviews PURE-4, a four-item tool that helps dermatologists screen psoriasis patients for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) risk. She traces its evolution across three studies (2018–2026) into a validated predictor of early PsA.

IPC Councilor André Lucas Ribeiro, MD, reframes PsA as a slow transition from psoriasis, not a sudden event, opening the door to disease interception. He outlines the steps needed to get there, from harmonizing definitions to reducing inflammatory burden.
