She has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving patient care for individuals living with psoriasis by arranging educational activities, organizing and presenting sessions on treatment updates for psoriasis, and collaborating with colleagues to enhance patient care pathways. Dr. Abawaji has recently started volunteering at a local health center once a week to assist primary care providers in better diagnosing, managing, and referring patients with various skin problems, including psoriasis. She participated in “The Paradox of Psoriasis Flare Post ART Cessation,” published in the Global Journal for Research Analysis. Dr. Abawaji’s research interests include assessing the clinical pattern, burden, and prevalence of psoriasis in Ethiopia, as well as generating evidence to inform policy and training. She aims to advance psoriasis research in Ethiopia and advocate for improved access to modern treatments, ultimately planning to collaborate with key stakeholders to work toward the availability of biologic therapies for patients who currently have no options. Dr. Abawaji has a wide range of interests in medical dermatology, with a particular focus on biologic therapies, comorbidities, and the combined fields of dermatology and rheumatology.

Dr. Abawaji will study with IPC Councilor Albert Duvetorp at the Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, Sweden.
