Dr. Sonia Chavez-Alvarez, is a dermatology professor at the Department for Dermatology in Hospital Universitario Dr. José Eleuterio Gonzalez of Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico. She is particularly interested in psoriasis and autoimmune disorders in her academic unit. She is currently co-leader for her academic unit’s autoimmune disease clinic and dermatology-rheumatology clinic. Dr. Chavez-Alvarez has worked in clinical research since residency and several clinical trials involving psoriasis, dermatomyositis, and lupus. She expects to continue improving medical care for patients in her country and contribute to the field of psoriasis for years to come.

Dr. Chavez-Alverez studied with IPC Board Member Lone Skov of the Herlev and Gentofte Hospital – University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
