Dr. Ravi Ramessur is a consultant clinical-academic dermatologist at the University of Pennsylvania, United States, and a visiting lecturer at King’s College London, United Kingdom (UK). His academic work focuses on psoriasis and its associated comorbidities, with particular emphasis on cardiometabolic and cardiovascular disease. He uses genetic epidemiology, large-scale population datasets, and causal inference methods to clarify disease pathways, improve risk stratification, and inform prevention and management strategies in psoriasis. In parallel, Dr. Ramessur has a strong interest in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to advance psoriasis care. His work spans clinical decision support, workflow optimisation, risk prediction, and the equitable implementation of digital tools across healthcare systems. He currently serves as Section Editor for Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies at the British Journal of Dermatology. He is Vice Chair of the research arm of the UK AI Skin Consortium. In this role, he contributes to shaping research priorities and standards for the responsible development and evaluation of AI in dermatology. Dr. Ramessur’s research has been published in several high-impact journals, including The Lancet, JAMA Cardiology, the British Journal of Dermatology, and JAAD, and he has received multiple national and international awards for his clinical and academic work. Beyond research, he plays an active role in shaping dermatology services and policy in the UK through service on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence Technology Appraisal Committee. Through his work with the International Psoriasis Council (IPC), Dr. Ramessur aims to take a leading role in delivering key IPC objectives and collaborating with the Board to develop novel workstreams that advance evidence-based, equitable psoriasis care internationally.
