Professor Peter Foley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at The University of Melbourne and Director of Research at the Skin Health Institute. He also leads Dermatology Research at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where he is a visiting medical officer across multiple specialty clinics, including psoriasis and phototherapy.

A Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists since 1997, Professor Foley has extensive clinical and research experience in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, photosensitivity disorders, and nonmelanoma skin cancers. He has served as principal investigator in over 180 clinical trials and authored over 200 publications.

Within the International Psoriasis Council (IPC), Professor Foley serves on the Membership Committee and the IPC Co-Mentoring Program and has mentored IPC International Fellows. He actively contributes to several regional and global psoriasis initiatives, including the Psoriasis Value Outcome Set (PsoVOS), biosimilar access programs, and APAC consensus panels.

He is a founding member of the Australasian Psoriasis Collaboration, co-convener of the Australasian Psoriasis and Dermatology Registries, and a key contributor to national dermatology education and guideline development. Professor Foley is also a Past President and current Skin Health Institute Board Member.

New Take Tens on Psoriatic Arthritis

IPC Councilor Anna Lopez Ferrer, MD, PhD, reviews PURE-4, a four-item tool that helps dermatologists screen psoriasis patients for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) risk. She traces its evolution across three studies (2018–2026) into a validated predictor of early PsA.
