Professor Peter Foley is an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne. He graduated with an MBBS and a BMedSc from Monash University in 1987 and an MD from The University of Melbourne in 1996. He completed his dermatology training in Melbourne, obtaining a Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 1997. He is Director of Research at the Skin Health Institute and the Head of Dermatology Research at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor, Department of Medicine at The University of Melbourne. In addition to running a busy private practice, he is a visiting medical officer to the Photobiology, Dermatology Biologics, and Dermatology Investigation Clinics at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the Phototherapy and Biologics/Advanced Therapies clinics at the Skin Health Institute. His interests include psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, photosensitivity disorders, and non-surgical management of nonmelanoma skin cancers. Prof. Foley is Australia’s only Councilor on the International Psoriasis Council. He is Co-convener of the Australasian Psoriasis Registry and of the Australian Psoriasis Treatment Goals. Additionally, Professor Foley is a former steering committee member of the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis GRAPPA), is a former member of the Scientific Research & Academic Committees, The Australasian College of Dermatologists, and is a founding member of the Australasian Psoriasis Collaboration. He is participating in the NPS MedicineWise bDMARD program, is part of the My Psoriatic Arthritis Expert Advisory Group, has joined the International Dermatology Outcome Measures (IDEOM) Psoriatic Arthritis Musculo-Skeletal Symptoms workgroup, and is on the Board of the Photomedicine Society. He remains a longstanding member on the Cancer Council Australia’s National Skin Cancer Committee and was part of the writing group for the revision of Keratinocyte Carcinoma Guidelines. He is a past President of Skin & Cancer Foundation, Inc. He has been an investigator in over 140 clinical trials and has over 140 published manuscripts.
