IPC Jr. Councilor
Dr. Doriane Sabushimike completed her residency in Dermatovenereology in 2021 at the Regional Dermatology Training Center (RDTC) in Moshi, Tanzania. During her residency, she conducted a research study on psoriasis. She looked at the prevalence of metabolic comorbidities and depression among Psoriasis patients attending the RDTC and assessed their treatment satisfaction. She discovered her passion for community dermatology while participating in and coordinating the different community projects run at the RDTC, especially the Xeroderma Pigmentosum program, for which she was the coordinator. She is also the founding member of the International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology (GLODERM) Trainee Committee and graduated from the GLODERM mentorship program in 2023, where she gained skills that enable her to write funding proposals, set up training projects, and build community outreach projects with a particular focus on implementing an outreach program for people living with albinism in Burundi that was officially launch in December 2023.

Dr. Sabushimike studied with IPC Honorary Founder Christopher Griffiths and IPC Councilor Darren Ashcroft at the Global Psoriasis Atlas (GPA) in Manchester, United Kingdom. She is currently practicing at Hôpital Militaire de Kamenge (HMK) in Bujumbura, Burundi, providing dermatology and venereology consultations and managing the Albinism Outreach Program.

New Take Tens on Psoriatic Arthritis

IPC Councilor Anna Lopez Ferrer, MD, PhD, reviews PURE-4, a four-item tool that helps dermatologists screen psoriasis patients for psoriatic arthritis (PsA) risk. She traces its evolution across three studies (2018–2026) into a validated predictor of early PsA.

IPC Councilor André Lucas Ribeiro, MD, reframes PsA as a slow transition from psoriasis, not a sudden event, opening the door to disease interception. He outlines the steps needed to get there, from harmonizing definitions to reducing inflammatory burden.
