Dr. Alexa Kimball is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a $930 million academic multi-specialty 501(c)3 physician organization with over 2,300 employees, recognized by the Boston Globe as a top 10 Woman-Led Business in Massachusetts. The group employs physicians and providers practicing in the Boston area, two-thirds of whom are Harvard Medical School faculty. She co-chairs the Beth Israel Lahey Health Performance Network Board (1.3 million members) and is on the Board of Trustees of Beth Israel Lahey Health.

A Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Kimball’s research focus is psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. She has published over 375 papers, conducted over 150 clinical trials, and has extensive experience in drug development and innovation, including two patents and several licensing agreements. Dr. Kimball is the author of “100 Questions and Answers about Psoriasis” (available in Spanish, Greek, and Korean), “Hidradenitis Suppurativa: Your Questions, Expert Answers,” and editor of “Dermatologic Diseases and Cumulative Life Course Impairment.” Awards include Modern Health Care’s 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives, the American Skin Association Research Award for Health Policy and Medical Education, Mentor of the Year from the Women’s Dermatologic Society, Outstanding Physician-Clinician Award from the National Psoriasis Foundation, Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Psoriasis Foundation, the Joseph B. Martin Dean’s Leadership Award for the Advancement of Women Faculty at Harvard Medical School, and Extraordinary Women Advancing Healthcare in Massachusetts by the Women’s Edge. Dr. Kimball also serves on the Advisory Council to the Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Monica M. Bertagnolli, MD. She has served on the Boards of the Society for Investigative Dermatology, the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy, the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation, and the International Psoriasis Council. She received her MD from the Yale School of Medicine, her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and public and international affairs from Princeton University. She completed an internship in medicine at Boston’s Beth Israel Hospital, her residency in dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center, and a clinical research fellowship at the NIH.
