Dr. Arthur Kavanaugh is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Innovative Therapy within the Division of Rheumatology, Autoimmunity, and Inflammation. His research focuses on the translational aspects of rheumatology, with an emphasis on novel immunomodulatory therapies. His work spans a range of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), systemic lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, and inflammatory bowel disease.

A founding member and current Co-President of the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (GRAPPA), Dr. Kavanaugh has played a role in developing treatment guidelines and advancing clinical care for PsA and related conditions. He has authored over 600 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and serves on numerous editorial boards.

Dr. Kavanaugh is committed to continuing medical education and establishing longstanding programs such as the Rheumatology Winter Clinical Symposium and RheumNowLive. He is also a Master of the American College of Rheumatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.
