Dr. Marcia Makdisse holds a Master’s Degree in Cardiology, a PhD in Medicine, an MBA in Health Management, and a Master of Science in Health Care Transformation from the Value Institute for Health and Care at the University of Texas at Austin.

She has expertise in Clinical Cardiology, Healthcare Management, and Research. From 2005 to 2016, she was the Head of Cardiology at Albert Einstein Jewish Hospital, and since 2016, she has focused on Value-Based Health Care (VBHC). Marcia led the implementation of Latin America’s first Value Management Office (VMO) at Einstein in 2017 and has since established VMOs in various Brazilian healthcare organizations.

Since 2019, Marcia has been the VBHC Center Europe Ambassador for Brazil and a faculty member for VBHC Yellow, Green, and Black Belt Certifications. She partners with the Oxford Value and Stewardship Program and is a member of the Wennberg International Collaborative. She is also a past chair of the American College of Cardiology’s VBHC Initiative.

Marcia has 50 papers on PubMed with over 26,000 citations and an H-index of 30. She co-edited and co-authored the Atlas of Variation in Healthcare Brazil, the first of its kind from a middle-income country, in collaboration with the Wennberg International Collaborative.

She is an educator, researcher, and consultant on various VBHC projects through Mak Valor Mentoring and Academia VBHC in São Paulo, Brazil.
