Dr. Charles Ellis is an active Professor Emeritus in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States. He is also a staff physician in the Dermatology Service at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Hospital. Dr. Ellis received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and was awarded the Dean’s Award for Research; he served his residency in the University’s Department of Dermatology. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology. For over 35 years, he was Associate Chair and Residency Director in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Michigan Medical School and Chief of Dermatology at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Hospital. He also developed the Department of Service Excellence at Michigan Medicine’s University Hospital. Dr. Ellis has published more than 275 journal articles and book chapters. Citation analyses found him among the twelve most-referenced and influential dermatologists in the world literature and the third-most-cited first-author for his dermatologic papers in high-impact general medical journals.
