Carmen Salavastru, Professor of Dermatology at Colentina Clinical Hospital, “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, has been the head of the Paediatric Dermatology Department since 2015. Her main areas of interest are the inflammatory conditions of the skin, cutaneous infestations, and rare skin diseases. As an invited speaker, she attended numerous international meetings and is a faculty member for many international education programmes. During her 30 years as a dermatologist and venereologist, Prof. Salavastru co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and several books, the most recent being “Skin and the Heart” (Springer, 2021). As President of the Romanian Association of Paediatric Dermatology and Vice-president of the Romanian Association of Dermatology and Venereology, she is involved in organising successful training programmes for young dermatologists. As a member of EADV, AAD, ESDR, SPD, and ESPD, she established professional relationships with colleagues worldwide. This allows her to be involved in active networks that focus on clinical research.
