Professor Anne Bowcock is the Norman Orentreich, MD, Professor of Dermatology Research at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. A leader in the field of the genetics of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis for more than 30 years, she identified a gene mutated in familial psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis (CARD14) and continues to examine its role in disease. She earned her PhD from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University. Her previous academic appointments were as professor and chair in Cancer Genomics at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Bowcock received a Psoriasis Achievement Award from the American Skin Association, is the inventor of two patents, and has published more than 240 scientific papers, books, and book chapters.
