MEDICAL/SCIENTIFIC WRITER AND SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Join our team!  The International Psoriasis Council seeks a dynamic Medical/Scientific Writer and Senior Project Manager.  This is a new and unique opportunity to work with the world’s leading psoriasis clinicians and researchers.  In this position, you will manage the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts focusing on consensus statements and literature reviews, collaborate with authors globally, and submit necessary documents for publishing.

Additionally, you’ll manage clinical and scientific projects, including coordinating meetings across multiple time zones, developing agendas, and preparing reports for diverse audiences.  Your expertise in grant development will be utilized to identify funding opportunities, write grant documents, and ensure compliance with funding agencies.  If you’re a seasoned professional with a PhD, experience in scientific writing and project management and a passion for advancing global healthcare, apply now!

JOB TYPE

This is a full-time, exempt, and permanent remote position with flexible working hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Writing, Editing, and Proofreading (50%)

  • Manage the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, coordinating with authors globally, facilitating necessary edits and changes, and submitting the required forms for publication.
  • Implement uniform formatting throughout documents with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Assist in creating and selecting scientific illustrations, tables, and figures.
  • Maintain knowledge of current research, conduct comprehensive literature reviews, and manage references.
  • Collaborate with the editorial committee to produce and edit scientific content for the website, addressing clinicians and researchers through articles, commentaries, and congress reports.
  • Work collaboratively with junior team members to attend and report on psoriasis highlights from scientific congresses, publishing findings within IPC channels.

Manage Clinical and Scientific Projects (40%)

  • Schedule meetings across multiple time zones to ensure the broadest participation from group members.
  • Work with the CMO and project chair to develop and distribute meeting agendas and materials.
  • Actively participate in meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Develop and maintain project work plans, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare reports on project outcomes for both internal and external audiences.
  • Design and deploy surveys, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports.

Grant Development (10%)

  • Identify potential funding opportunities for various medical and scientific projects through thorough research.
  • Draft and revise supporting documents for grant submissions, including need assessments and letters of request.
  • Interpret and adhere to instructions from funding agencies to ensure all documentation meets their requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS

  • Possess a PhD or equivalent in a relevant scientific or medical discipline related to psoriasis.
  • Have at least four years of experience writing and editing scientific publications and grants.
  • Ideally, have a background or familiarity with dermatology, immunology, or related health fields.
  • Demonstrate fluency in English with exceptional writing skills.
  • Exhibit the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Showcase strong project management abilities, including the capacity to prioritize, multitask, and independently handle complex projects and initiatives involving both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Display proficiency in reading, analyzing, and interpreting various scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents.

ADA AND OTHER SPECIFICATIONS

  • This position is permanently remote, requiring internet and phone access.
  • Willingness to travel 1 – 2 times yearly, including potential international travel.
  • May occasionally lift to 40 lbs.  (ie, event materials)
